The end of each year is a time to reflect on the bad and the good, but mostly to be grateful for what and who we have. To that end, the Rappahannock Neus has once again selected a Citizen of the Year in recognition of those who through their good will, generosity and effort help to make our community a better place. The Rappahannock News had numerous deserving nominees this year. What are the makings of a good citizen? Someone who has uplifted a place, through action, whether grand or small. Whose signature or marks may not always be visible, but in their wake, there’s just something a little different than it was before, a little brighter, a little more beautiful, or even where the ordinary becomes just a little easier. Someone whose actions and attitudes help to move things forward. Someone whose life will be forever a part of the soul of this community. Claudia Mitchell is that person.
