X886, that we played with the St. Louls Browns some fellow from way back would rise up to remark that I bave a mighty poor memory when it comes to disagreeable things. Well, maybe I have, but I'm going to say a little something about those games all the same. To start with, I want to observe that the St. Louis team was a strong organization and could have held its own against any other team in the league. In the first series we broke even, each winning three games, the odd one being a tie. Next year we were beaten, fairly beaten, but I niust say that in my opinion there •was a very good reason for our defeat. The games were playod both seasons after the Chicago players had passed out of my control and the relaxation in the regular discipline made the boys careless. If they had taken as good care of themselves Just before playing these games as they were obliged to when the regular season •was on there would have been a diflerent story to tell.
