Leaders Organize New Local District For Scout Work R. Lynch, Crewe, Named Chairman At First Meeting An organizational meeting for the new local Boy Scouts of America District was held Tues day night, in the Recreational Center at Crewe. Effective the first of this month, the new district will in clude the counties of Buckingham. Cumberland. Prince Edward. Nottoway, Lunenburg, and Char lotto. Organized in the new dis trict at this time are 15 Scout troops, three Cub packs, and two Explorer posts, according to Lee B. Short, Jr., field Scout execu tive. R. F. Lynch, of Crewe, was named district chairman, with A. B Cummings, of Blackstone. district vice-chairman, and G B Kelsey, of Farmville. district com missioner. Mr. Lynch named these chair men of district operating com mittees at the meeting—T. L. Lancaster. Jr., of Farmville. camp and activities: Dr. Robert Ails worth. of Keysville. health and safety: Alfred Vaughan, of Vic toria. advancement: W. C. Averett, of Crewe, organization and extension: J. B. Murphy, of Crewe, training and leadership: and R. B. Crawford, of Farmville, finance. A name for the new district will be selected by Scout troops in the near future. Mr. Short said. As a part of Tuesday night's program, colored films of the 1950 Boy Scout Jamboree at Gettys burg. Pa., were shown to Scout supporters and parents who at tended the meeting. Those from Farmville attend ing the meeting, in addition to Mr. Short, Mr. Kelsey, and Mr. Crawford, were Bill Carter. R. B. Kitts, R L. Hurt, and R P. Brier ly.
