Will Review Increases With State Hoard Members of the Prince Edward C'rnty board of supervisors will review with the State Compensa tion B’ aid increases in salaries for county officers for 1953. ac cording to a resolution passed Thursday. The resolution was presented . by several supervisors who have been told by constituents that the salary scale in the county is out of proportion with that of simi lar-sized counties and out of keeping with the downward trend in farm incomes. It calls for Supervisor W. W. Vaughan and Chairman Edward Carter to meet with the state board in a conference on the matter. The salaries discussed will be those of treasurer, common wealth's attorney and comrr.is sicner of revenue. Pav Scale Set For Pr nee Edward county, the state board recently announced these for 1953 as: treasurer. $4,800: commonwealth's attorney, $3,600. a n d commissioner of revenue. $4 800. The county pays two-tbirds of t.he salaries and the state one third. County governing bodies are given appeal and review authority in such matters. The board also was informed by Dr. H. E. Jenkins. Southside Health District officer, that his department will ask for an in creased appropriation in the next fiscal year. The present appro priation f r the county's share of health district work is $2,675. The county also furnishes heat and light for the district offices here.
