Historic Shri lies Get New Possessions Six more possessions of the 'three presidents of the United Slates that resided m the Char lottesville area have recently been acquired by the Tohmas Jefferson Memorial Foundation and by Mr and Mrs. Jay Winston Johns, of Ash Lawn. CharoUtesville. One of these, the piano of Thomas Jefferson, is now on dis paly at Me .ticello. Jefferson's fa mous home and one of the state's leading historic shrines. The other items will be displayed at Ash Lawn, home of James Mon roe. They will be displayed first as a feature of Virginia Historic Attractions Month. January 18 through February 22. and then will take a permanent place in the collection shown the public daily at this shrine. The new Monroe possession is a large table made by Duncan Phyfe, it is said at the order of the Dominican Republic, and | from Domican Mahogany It. iconics to Asti Lawn from the col i lection of the late Frank Little ton. It is believed that the table i was presented President Monroe : by this Republic in token of his [ Monroe Doctrine Other Items to be shown are matching card tables, bed steps and a butler's trey, made for President James Madison These pieces will be shown at Ash Lawn in the section of the house added after Monroe'e ownership.
