Ntw Oat Available. Thirty-nine bushels of the new Andrew Spring oat are available for the first time to Rappahannock fanners below market price through your county agent. Seeds of proven production superiority as discovered are made available in this manner to insure state-wide distribution of initial stock and in order to afford quicker availability to other farmers of a convenient source of seed. Any farmer getting a part of this original allocation of Andrew Oats agrees to plant for seed production.
This new variety was first entered in the Virginia Agricultural Experiment Station’s spring oat varietal tests in 1948, and since . that time has given outstanding performance. In the Piedmont area it has averaged 10 bushels per acre higher than Clinton or Benton. At Orange the three year average per acre yield was 01.9 ' bushels.
