The U. S. Army end U. SL Air Force Recruiting Station at Culpeper reports the enlistment in the U. S. Army of Thomas H. Williams of Sperryville and Thomas H. Jackson of Wood villa. Both are colored boys, and they were sent to Fort Knox, KyM for basic training.

More Vacancies exist in the army and in the air force for both men and women, the recruiting office advises.

TWO NEW FORESTERS APPOINTED TO V.F.S.

John M. Shavis of Bristol has been appointed Forester, attached to the Charlottesville district of the Virginia Forest Service, D. G. Wilfong, district forester, has announced. Mr. Shavis is a graduate of the University of Georgia, Athens, Ga., wlmre he was a member of Xi Sigma Pi honorary forestry fraternity.

Mr. Shavis will work in Rappahannock county and 15 other northern Piedmont counties assisting .private landowners with all types of timber management problems.

District Forester Wilfong also • announced the appointment of Dorson W. Wilcox of Alexandria as forester’s 'assistant. Mr. Wilcox comes from the State Forest Ranger School, University ^f Flor-_
