Boys Wood Property
At the auction sale Tuesday morning, held before the Court house in Washington, selling the Piehler portion of the W. G. Wood estate, Dr. W. L. Kilby was high bidder with $18,000 for the 264 acres, including some timber.
This sale was an outcome of a previously advertised sale when _ a hid of $13,400 was sent in by Lucio Kilby and a bid of $14,000 was placed . by George Wood. When there was some misunderstanding as to time limit for mail* ing in the bids, Judge J. R. H. Alexander set the sale at public auction for December 12, stating that the bidding should begin at the bid of $14,000.
Dr. Kilby, a brother of Lucio Kilby, is head of the X-Ray Department of University of Maryland and has a large private practice. He has a large family connection in the oounty.
Champa Blankenbaker was auctioneer and the bidding went rapidly, the property being sold in about tea minutes. , '
