Sloan Murder Trial

Ends in Hung Jury

With a two-hour session—in two flections—the jury was hung on the case Tuesday when Adelaide Sloan, colored, was on trial charged with the murder of her brother, William Sloan.

The new trial will be set at the January tern of court.

The jury consisted of Fred Schaefer, foreman; Walter Mills, John R. Gore, Jesse Hawkins, Charles O. Coates, Henry W. Can. non, Yaeger Hawkins, W. 8. Hughes, Charles E. Bowling, Sidney Perry, C. H. Thornhill, and Keith G. Riley. The Jury went out at 6:30 and stayed until supper at 6:80. After supper they came out after half-an-hour and an-> nounoed that they could not reach a verdict. Judge J. R. H. Alexander sent them back and requested that they try again to reach a decision, hut after another had#- t hour, the jury returned with the • same story—no decision could he reached.. Then the judge dismissed court.
