senator Byrd, in his talk Monday night, made some reference to a remark once made about there being “too many ‘birds’ in the Senate.” The Senator should know that from Washington, Va., to Washington, D.C., the man who made that remark received a slingshot. A 10-year-old future voter of “The First Washington” made the sling-ehot and mailed it to the White House. His accompanying suggestion was that the slingshot seemed the only way to kill Virginia-'Birds’, since votes were far from fatal.

Thirteen Culpeper county farmers have organized a game preserve designed specifically to increase the bird population on their farms. This is the first organization of ite kind to come into being in Culpeper county, although other farmer groups are getting under way. All of the farms join making up a large block of approximately 6500 acres. The area is bounded roughly by the Brandy* Alanthus road, the Northern boundary of Brandy Rock Farm, the Hazel River and Highways 675 and 677 extending from Elkwood to the Hazel River and U.S. Highway 29 from Elkwood to Brandy.
