With the county getting in practice for the forthcoming talent show, some of os will recall our reading of a feVyearB hack, during school days. It must have been in "Artemu* Ward’s Lecture” that this was spoke: “I can’t sing. As a singist I am not a success. I am saddest when I sing. SC are those who hear me. They are saddest even than I am."
All joking aside—there is much anticipation of the talent show. Folks are looking forward to it, as an evening of entertainment as well as a benefit for a fine cause—the Cancer Fund.
There’s much talent in Rappahannock, and when it comes to putting on a good show, the local folks can do it—and do it right!

I saw a lady shopping the other day. She had four, small, stairstepped boys with her. Her patience was a thing of beauty—hut after they had got into one too many pieces of mischief, she took the situation in hand. She lined them up along a counter, paddled each one, separately and firmly, and double-black-dog-dared them to move. When I saw them last, they were still standing solemn, round-eyed, and exactly where mama had placed them. Many deserved Congressional Medals do not go where they belong.
