Unit I includes the following classes: (1.) The Importance of Electricity in the Home and on the Farm; (2.) Fuses—Repairing Service Cords and How to Convert an Oil Lamp; and (3.) Lighting in the Home. Unit I was first started in Rappahannock last year with 17 boys and girls participating. In addition to attending classes ana keeping of a rcord book each member is required to do two or more of the following jobs:
1. Do any two or more of the following jobs, or other jobs requiring equal skill or knowledge: ' (a.) Improve the lighting in at least one room of your home. (Foi example, remodel ceiling fixtures; shade bare bulbs; plan lighting for study, ironing or laundry center. ^||r) Convert an oB lamp to etetrfc or remodel or make a lamp,
(e.) Repair four service cords,
(d.) Build a pig brooder.
(e.) Build a lamb .brooder.
(f.) Learn about fuses and how to replace them. ^ (g.) (Build a heavy duty extension cord.
2. Care for two or more eletrical appliances, such as the following, for a period of at least one month each:

(a.) Lights and lamps in home
(b.) Iron
(c.) Toaster
(d.) Vacuum Cleaner
On The Farm
(e.) Refrigerator
(f.)) Farm Lighting
(g.) Pig Brooder
(h.) Lamb Brooder : 3.Do one of the following:
(a.) Show others something you have learned in carrying out this project, by giving one or more talks or demonstration.
(b.) Visit one or more farms or homes where electricity is being -used for many jobs. List the uses of electricity you observed on each visit. .
County winners (1 boy and l girl) are given an all expense trip to the 4-H Electric Congress held at Richmond. Rappahannock winners in 19>52 were Lelia Gentry and Ivory Atkins.
