SWIMMING NOTICE
Swimming lessons will be discon-* tinued in the Davis Lake.
Beginning Saturday, July 18, the Washington swimmers «will meet at the Slaughter pool. Slaughter pool schedule is:
9 - 9:30—Beginner r
9:30 - 10:00—Beginner
10:00 - 10:45—Intermediate
10:45 - 11:45—Advanced class
Of course ,the above schedule will be lengthened to allow more time for the additional pupils.
Several cars will leave Washington. If anyone is interested in transportation for swimmers, call Rappahannock News.
ATTEND CONVENTION
Dr. and Mrs. W. L. Wake are leaving Saturday noon to attend the American Veterinarian Medical As-; sociation meeting in Toronto, Canada. They will be away for a week.
APPLE JUICE GETTING "SCARCE”
According to reports from Blue Ridge Fruit Growers Co-op., apple juice is getting “scarce.” The popular demand has quickly eaten up thq ample supply. The plant will begin production in September with the, Monum variety if it is mature. This will be followed by the Delicious and other fall varieties,
Mrs. Jack Petty Injured
In Fall
While fishing on Rush River, Mrs. Jack Petty slipped on a rock and in1 the resulting fall, injured her back. Her husband and Reed Payne, who acoompanied her on the fishing trip, immediately took her to the Warren Memorial Hospital where an X-ray showed a fractured vertebrate of the spine. Mrs. Petty's mother, Mrs. Roy Baumgardener of Culpeper, is staying with Mrs. Kate Petty and the children while her daughter is • in the: hospital.
ENLISTS IN SIGNAL CORPS
Franklin Hawkins, son of Mr. and Mrs Edgar Hawkins of Washington, having enlisted in . the Signal Corp, left Monday for Camp Breckenridge, Ky., where he will be stationed.
SCOUTS LEAVE FOR CAMP
Dudley Wood, Buddy Moore, Johnnie Browning, Hill Walker, George .Davis III and Bucky Coons are among the Rappahannock boys who are attending the boy scout camp (this week at Rock Enon at Gore. Hill and Bucky are going to be at camp for two weeks while George, Dudley, Buddy and Johnnie are going to spend one week.
