George Strother Davis
George Strother Davis died early Monday morning, July 13 at the age of 72. Interment was in Fairview cemetery in Culpeper.
Mr. Davis, formerly of Washington D C., was living with his son, John S. Davis of “Hawthorne.”
Besides his son, Mr. Davis is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Ann McTigue of Washington, D. C., Mrs. Dolly Swift of Arlington and Mrs. Virginia Ash of McLane.
Small Turn-Out at Polls
Compared to the 1137-voters that cast their ballots in the fall election, last Tuesday’s total of 432 voters was a pitiful showing.
Following the rest of the state, Rappahannock showed a sweeping majority for Thomas B. Stanley. ’Stephens, Almond, and Aldhizer likewise, polled a comfortable vote. With 320 votes, Tom Frost, <the only candidate* for the House of Delegates, received a complimentary vote, since usually, when there is no opposition, ‘people do not feel the necessity in casting a ballot.
