Oak Grove came back in the seventh inning to Win the game by chalking up three more runs on Rappahannock errors and three successive hits, not, however, with out the hard playing Chiefs clipping their lead. The Chiefs were trailing 5-2 when in* the eighth Ned Settle rapped a double, driving two runs in and placing himself on a scoring base. The Chiefs were retired however before they could drive across the tieing run.
At one point with the bases loaded, in the Grovers’ side of the ninth, it looked as if the Grovers ■h might increase their advantage but 4 Pitches Sisk hurled himself out of I {rouble and retired the opponents, in short order. f j * The Chiefs stepped to the plate, |knowing that one run would tie i?' up the game, and another declare them the victor. A long drive to • '% right field, snagged by a Grover, a strike out and a fly to center field destroyed the Fire Chiefs' 1; hopes and ended the game with a standing score of 5-4 in favor of ... ..the undefeated Oak Grovers.
