Approve Tax On
Carnivals
pahannock Board of Supervisors - held Wednesday morning, June 2 in the court houser Supervisor Estes, seconded by Supervisor Campbell, proposed a motion to put a tax on carnivals that set up in this area. This tax ($500 was suggested as the sum to be levied) will not effect charitable organizations. The Commonwealth At- - torney was instructed to draw up this motion in legal form.
The Supervisors also approved a motion made by Buckner, seconded by Wood, to “discontinue the special allowance of $15 allotted to the Commonwealth Attorney, designated for travel and investigation, as of June 1, 1954.”
The Treasurer was asked to ‘ take the necessary steps to collect the Bank Capital stock tax for the county. The tax on capital stock in the Rappahannock National - Bank has been paid to the^ county for a long period. However the tax on capital stock for the First National Bank of Flint Hill 4 has been going to the State. Some time ago a bill was passed which allowed the county to obtain all or part <j^ these funds, sent to the state by the Flint Hill Bank. However to claim this tax the Mtfinty board: of supervisors must 'authorize the \ treasurer to write \ to the State Treasurer requesting such reimbursement. The Treasurer was also authorized to em-_ ploy State Department to make the regular audit of the county
