I said they exemplified leaders whose claims to immortality rest not merely in their military exploits but on their qualities of Christian character and their constructive contributions to humanity.
I pointed out that when the North and South were divided, j primarily over economic issues, statesmanship could have avoided the blbody War Between th© States and that statesmanship ! could have avoided the later wars in which we have participated.
