BUFFET SUPPER * ! Mrs. Harry Gallihugh entertained with * buffet supper on Wednesday, June 16 at 6 o’clock in honor of her Stanley hostesses for the month of April and May* who helped her win a gold cup for this period. There were 26 guests' presentto enjoy the evening. At the conclusion of evening’s entertainment several valuable gifts were given away. Mrs. Mayo Berry of Madison, was given an electric West Bend percolator for having the highest party, $143. The door prize was won by Mrs. Winfrey Dodson of Etlan, who was awarded two large pictures, these being reproductions of “Pinkie” and “Blue Boy.”
Mrs. Gallihugh was assisted in serving by her mother, Mrs. Gilbert Weakley and her sister-inlaw, Mrs. R. M. Strickler of JBanco.
A TRIBUTE TO “UNCLE ROB?*
Uncle Rob was buried last week. Thus ended the life of a good man who leaves behind him a record of being a good citizen and a good neighbor.' >
It is regretable that he never foined the church; weare reminded, however, that "Man looketh on the outward appearance but God looketh on the heart,” and what neighbor, white or colored, can, say that Uncle Rob did not have‘a good heart ? .
This good man was the kind that makes it easy for white and colored to live side by side in peace aind friendliness as good neighbors should, regardless of ‘ race or colbr. — t, Although with us no longer in body, the spirit of good Uncle Rob will live on in Sperryville, and his neighbors—white and colored— will not soon forget his gentle spirit and helpful influence. *
