Downed By Marshall Wade Bragg: and Silas Martin starred for the Amissville Athletics Sunday afternoon as they put up a valiant fight against the strong Marshall team and were defeated by a one-run margin, 7-6.
Striking out 16 men, Bragg allowed onlv 3 walks and 9 hits, with only 3 of Marshall’s 7 runs going down in the boolks as “earned.” Martin slammed a thrde-run homer in the eighth inning, and Benner, Grainum, Bragg and Grimms each connected for 2 hits for the Athletics. i
Lawrence, the starting pitcher, was credited with the win. He was relieved by Cann, Ball led the Marshall attack with 3 hits. Their best inning was the second, when they brought.5 runs across home base. One ruh came in during the fourth and another in the fifth. Amissville scored 3 hits in the sixth and three in the. eighth when Martin hit a homer.
