Let’s take a quick tour of the country. We’ll begin on the East coast, and work west.
Sorry, we won’t be able to see all the sights. This is what you might call a selected item tour. We're going to concentrate on just, one item-of interest, and see how it operates in different places. -*■ First, let’s Visit Times Square, in the heart of Manhattan. We enter a tall building, and just manege tto squeeze into* a crowded elevator before the starter sends it zooming up.
Quite a few floors up we get out, and work our way through a number of rooms, and corridors until we come to one room larger than the others. . There’s a great deal of activity in this room. Several men are sitting around a large u-shaped desk, looking over bits of paper, and making marks on them.
In other parts of the room, men and women are hunched over typewriters, furiously pounding away. A few teen age boys are dashing .around with sheets of paper in their hands.
