Flint Hill A. C.’s Take Fourth of Series League Champions •
Unlike the Dodgers-Yankees tug-of-war for the championship recently, the Flint Hill A. C.’s won 4 out of 4 games from the Rappahannock Chiefs to wrap up swiftly the championship of the Shenandoaah League. Though the Chiefs fought hard to trip the A. C. ’s and halt their winning streak, the Flint Hill team came up with a final 6-3 victory.
John Pickrell, the A.C.’s ace on. the mound, went to the ninth,1 when he was relieved by Riley, who. finished the game in good order. Edwin Scroggins started for the Chiefs, but was relieved in the rhird after the A. C.’s had hit him hard. Bobby Swindler went the rest of the way for the Chiefs.
In the first, Horace Russell walked, Galley Smith III doubled and Russell scored on an error, giving the A. C.’s a 1-0 lead.
The game was tied up at 1 all in the third as Pete Clater and H. Scroggins doubled, and R. Clater singled to score Pete. Two errors and cleah hits by Russell, Jenkins, D. Foster, and Pickrell gave the Athletic Club 5 runs, and a safe 6-1 lead. ,
