Forestry Committees Discuss Project—
uPlant More Trees**
The Rappahannock County forestry committee learned at a meeting on Thursday, September 29, , that its first year apal in the Gov. emof’s “Plant M»t T*feei” program is 80,000 tree seedlings. This represents the minimum quantity that, must be planted, along with similar quotas that have been established for every county in Virginia, if the Statewide goal of twenty million trees is to be met. The local county committee, together with similar committees from Fauquier, Culpeper, Prince William^ Fairfax, Loudoun and Stafford counties, held a joint meeting at the Sycamore Hill ^Restaurant in Warrenton to discuss ways and means of' making this first year of the Governor’s - three-J^ar program a succes.. Meeting with them and leading the discussion was VVilliam E. Cooper, Executive Director of Virginia Forests, In';. His Association is administering the “Plant More Trees” program oA behalf of the 90-member Statewide committee Governor Stanley appointed earlier this year.
So that this program will be brought to the attention of every farmer and forest owner in Virginia, 175,000 special PMT leaflets have been prepared. They contain a message from the Governor, together with technical and economic data on tree planting itself.
