Chiefs Shutout A.C.s In Benefit Game

Sunday’s benefit game between the Rappahannock Chiefs and the Flint Hill A. C.’s netted $80 for the Buck Clater Fund and a 2-0 shutout for the Chiefs.

Bobby- Swindler, on the mound for the chiefs, held the A. C.’s to 4 hits, giving up only 2 walks. Riley, going all the way for the Flint Hill team, allowed 10 hits and gave up 6 walks.

The Flint Hill A.C.’s threatened .to break the 0-0 deadlock in the sixth, as 2 men went to base, on an error and a clean hit. But they couldn’t score the men, and the Chiefs came up in their frame of the seventh for 2 runs.

George Pullen was safe on an error, and then stole second. Roxy Olater singled, bringing in Pullen to erase the goose egg. Ned Settle was safe on an error and then came in when Charles Dodson connected for a clean single.
