Kroger Scholarship
Miss Lelia Gentry of Vlktt Hill has been awarded a one-year Kroger scholarship to VirginiaPolytechnic Institute, it has been announced by Dean L. B. Dietrick of the school of agriculture.
Miss Gentry, daughter of'Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Gentry, is now attending the university’s school of home economics in Blacksburg. The $200, award is based on scholastic achievement and leadership in school, church, youth, or agricultural activities.
A 1955 graduate of Rappahannock County School, Miss Gentry was valedictorian, and vice president of her class. She was winner of the Betty Crocker “Homemaker of Tomorrow” contest this year. Active in 4-H Club and the Future Homemakers of America, she was president of the 4-H County Council and FHA secretary.
Miss Gentry’s award is part of the retail food firm’s $19,400 scholarship, program which this year offered 97 scholarships at the land-grant colleges of 19 middlewestem and southern states.
