Yes there are others Whom I’ye not mentioned. Others that 4-H had its influence in • rounding out good citizenry. Yes these, and others who have brought some ’ praise to themselves and a desireable awareness of* RaSahannock to others. A worthy awareness of which we are all proud and want more of.
Then theik are youngsters showing great promise today. They are among the waelthy, the middle class and the poor. Four-H offers, all a equal chance. Four-H offers more than any other youth organization in the . world.
It offers an oportunity to learn by doing with rewards forjichievement in practically every phase of farm. and home life. It is supported by big business such as SeaTS Roebuck, Cities Service, Thomas E. Willson Company, General Electric, etc. Yet its effectiveness is dependant mdfet of all upon the people on the neighboring farm or in the community center no matter/ whether that person be a parent of a 4-H’er a banker, a storekeeper, filling station operator, lawyer,' preacher, dairyman or orahardist. Any reader can help by talking to any one of the members. Check the club enrollments and see who the members are in your community’, then ask the girl or boy about project progress. You might even learn that your son or daughter, niece or nephew is a 4-H’er.
Also 4-H can be of help to the communi^’ and county. On two different occasions they have planted dogwood in and around Washington as a' cooperative effort to make your county seat more attractive to all. They are making signs of “Welcome” to be placed at approaches to the county. They conducted a county -wide rat and mouse killing campaign introduce ing the newest and best rodenticide known to science.
They can help with T. B. seal sales, March of Dimes, Cancer Fund etc. Give them your help and support and I’ll guarantee they will give you theirs. 4-H work is conducted by the Extention Service through the local Home and County Agents with the cooperation of local citizens, school officials and local government,
