This is the report of the total number of individuals in Rapahannock County who have received one or more doses (injections) of Salk Poliomyelitis Vaccine since it was licensed April 12, 1955.

have had what is considered good protective treatment against paralytic polio. One has received the recommended series of three doses—the second two to six weeks ajfter the first, with a third (booster) dose at least seven months later. One dose of polio vaccine is not td be expected to give protection against paralytic polio, though the results in 1955, where children rejived only one dose of polio vaccine, indicate that one dose is appajrently more protective against jralytic involvement than had
n expected.
