Sheep scabies, an ailment that causes the annual loss of thousands of dollars in Virginia, can be controlled.

But. says Dr. S. L. Kalison, veterinarian at VPI, control measures have not been used as* they should be, and the incidence of the disease remains about the same year after year.

Sheep growers, professional agricultural Workers, and others can help control the disease if they will ■' report immediately any suspected outbreaks to their area veterinarians. Itching or loss of wool in a flock are danger signals.

Dr. Kalison says local veterinarians as well as the veterinarians on state and federal regulatory forces ha\ e been alerted and are ready to make concentrated effort to reduce the incidence of the disease. Successful control < measures
