itie oudget or me v^ouncu is an administrative instrument designed to carry on the Councilwide program of Scouting. It represents the cost of the ascertained needs as developed by the men who are leaders in every District of the Council. The amount of $27,950 is the figure which they feel is needed to effectively carry on the Boy Scout Program in the Council for 1957. The campaign will not be conducted in Berkely, Frederick and Warren Counties, as the Shenandoah Area Council is a participating agencv in the Community Chests in these counties. Scouters residing in these areas have and are continuing to assist with the Chest Campaigns.

As a result of funds raised in the campaign. The Council will be able to continue its program of activities in bringing a greater and finer program of Scouting to the youth of the Council area. The funds raised are used in providing training for the Scout Leaders of the Council, promoting die advancement program in the Scout Units, providing badges and awards for Cubs and Scouts, the promotion of Health and Safety Programs in connection with Scouting, the Servicing of Units in strengthening their programs, the organization of New. Units, dig promotion of District and Council^ activities that all Scouts and, Explorers of the Council may enjoy and participate in Summer Camp, Jamborees, Rallies and many other Scouting events.

The funds secured through the drive are >hn used in helping maintain die Council Camp, Rock Enon. The Camp is available ■throughout the year to all Scouts of the Council area for week-end camping, long term camping and other activities. '
