Who says Johnny can’t read ?
The volume of business at the new Belmont Branch Library seems to deny any such accusation.
At the end of the second week of operation the branch records showed a total circulation of 4,840 books. During the first week alone, children checked out 1,386 volumes.
Miss Roberta Beattie, diildren’s librarian for the branch, said shelves of books for older boys and girls are stripped bare in some spoil.
From 2:30 to 5 p. m. each day, the building at Belmont and EUwood Aves. is filled with small fry. “In addition to tha children, one afternoon we had seven dogs,”
