Miss Mary Jesse, who served as a missionary to Japan for 40 years was the guest speaker for the adult group.
Mrs. George Bowman taught the YWA’s; Rev. John Divers, the Intermediate group; Rev. James Fleet, the Juniors, and Mrs. Gareth Miller, the Sunbeams.
The study class began at 5:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the church, where all groups saw two film strips of Japan, which provided excellent background material.
One of the strips was furnished for the study by the Foreign Mission Board, the other by die Japanese Embassy in Washington, D. C.
In the classrooms, Japanese exhibits—gay parasols, lanterns, figurines, maps, and flower arrangements in the Japanese manner were used to create atmosphere.
Following the pictures,,? buffet supper was served, after which the different groups met in different class rooms.
Mrs. Jesse was in Japanese cosj tume, as were Mrs. L. J. Turner and Mrs. Lewis Morre, Who assited with the program.
