Using the old divide-and-conquer tactics, Virginia is making headway in the battle against brucellosis. million-dollar a year enemy to the cattle industry.

A county-at-a-time is the plan being worked by the co-operating Virginia and U. S. Department of Agriculture.

It looks now like Mathews County in northeast Virginia will be the Number one certifiel brucellosis-free county in the state. Dri J. J. Fielder, VDA area veterinarian. says the last couple of herds in Mathews are due to be tested soon. If 99% of the herds are brucellosis-free, then the countv can be'given a modified certification for 3 years.
