An area is designated as a Modified Certified Brucellosis Free Area for a jJeriod of three years. At that time it may be recertified by:
1. When the blood testing procedure is used exclusively.
a. Testing 20% of the herds in the area and finding an incidence nf infection of less than one percent in the cattle, and all.the reactors being located in less than 5% of the herds tested.
2. When both the milk ring test and blood test are used
a. Rlood testing 20% of the herds not included in the milk ring testing and finding the incidence of infection to be less than one percent of the cattle and the reactors located n less than five percent of the herds tested. 1. It is good insurance to vaccinate all heifer calves between4-8 months of age as has been previously recommended. This program is not complete without calf hood vaccination.
