President Eisenhower has seen one place where the budget might be cut though Mr- Dizzy Gillespie can rest easy. President Eisenhower was not referring to Be-boppers, but to the farm program. This week the President remarked that a large saving might be realized if we cut the soil bank and other farm appropriations. Could it be that he has in mind sending twice as many jazz bands overseas with this large saving?

i Well, there is one consolation; the taxes we pay would not get Dizzy Gillespie’s band out of New York harbor. Still and all, we would feel a lot happier if we knew our tax money went toward Dizzy’s boat ticket than to think one penny went toward the salary of a Supreme Court Justice.

Drive on, Mr. Eisenhower, drive on.
