7. Facilities for handling cattle are always necessary. The fact that all cattle in areas being tested must be handled makes it even more important that all cattle farms have such facilities available. This will mean a great deal in getting the job done with the least amount of difficulty and a minimum danger to the handler. Advantages of Area Certification
1. It will facilitate the movement of cattle for sale or show purposes
2. It will reduce the reservoirs of infection and minimize the danger of exposing noninfected catcle to the disease. This wil aid those herd owners presently maintaining clean or non-infected herds.
3. Reducing the incidence of infection in the cattle will :
a. Reduce losses incurred through: 1. i/owered milk production 2. I.oss of calves 3 Loss of cattle duc to sterility
b. Reduce the danger of human contact with the disease, thereby reduenig the incidence of infection in the human population.
4 It wil increase the value of breeding herds.
S. It will increase the value of cattle offered for sale through a greater demand for cattle that originate in a certified area and are therefore less likely to carry the infection.
