The Vjrginia Beef Cattle Improvement Association was organized on January 26th, 1955, the first organization of its kind in the world.
There are now seven state BCIA organizations, a national organization (American Beef Cattle Performance Registry Association) and a national organization in Canada for the performace testing of beef cattle. All except four of the 48 states now have or are starting similar programs.
