Tribute To Dr, Miller
The Senior clas of Madisom College paid tribute to the college president, Dr. G. Tyler Miller, with the presentation of his portrait to the college during Wednesdays Moving UP Day assembly.
The portrait was presented in recognition of Dr. Miller’s ten years as president of Madison and was unvailed by his daughter Elise Browning Miller.
Dr. Miller, Madison’s third president, was State Superintendent of Public Instruction before coming to Madison m 1949. A naive of Washington, Va., he graduated from R.M.A., received his B.S. degree from V.M.I. and attended the University of Virginia as a graduate student. He holds an LL.D degree from Bridgewater College.
Dr. Miller served as president of the Virginia Education Association in 1945-46, and as president of the Association of Virginia Colleges in 1955-56. Long active in both civic and educational affaairs, he is a member of Rotary Club, Phi Delta Kappa, Committee on College Work, Episcopal Diocese of Virgin la, the Professional Standards Committee of the Virginia Education Association, and Board of Trustees, Rockingham Memorail Hospital.
