The Sheriff, Commissioner of Revenue, Treasurer and Clerk of the county filed with; the Board of Supervisors official salary and expense request for the calendar year 1960, at which time H. B. Wood moved that the Board request _a hearing before the Compensation Board in Richmond! for the pur* pose of equalizing salaries of the assistant to the Treasurer and assistant to the Commissioner of Revenue at a range from $1,800 to $2,400. A recorded vote showed H. B. Wood, E. M. Estes and A H. Buckner voting for it and Herbert Foster and L. H. Luttrell voting against it. The motion was tarried. E. M. Estes moved that IH. B. Wood and E. M. Jones meet with the State Compensation Board to discuss the! action; taken by the Board in the re-equalization of the salary of the assistant to the Treasurer and- Commissioner of Revenue. The vote on this motion was IEL M. Estes, A. !H. Buckner, H. B. Wood and E. M Jones voting for and Herbert Foster and L H. Luttrell against!.

The Board of Supervisors considered and discussed! an estimate of expenses filed by fbe Clerk of the Circuit Court for the year ending December 31, 1960. Supervisor Buckner moved that the request of $2,520 for the Clerk’s assistant in 1960 be increased ti> $3,000 and further moved that the salary request made by the Clerk for part tim* clerk-typist of $1,200 for the year I960 be reduced and set at $650. The result of voting on the motion was Supervisors Buckner, Jones, Estes, and Wood for and Foster and Luttrell against.
