salaries again came into tne picture for discussion and voting. A • motion, was made to accept the following amounts for salaries and expenses of the county offices:
Commonwealth Attorney's office $2790; Treasurer’s office $7140 which is $3600 for Treasurer and $2400 for assistant which was raised from $1680; Sheriff’s office $5152 which is $3600 for sheriff and $1250 for assistant; Commissioner of Revenue’s office . ' $6805 which is $3600 for Commissioner and $2400 for assistant. Clerk's office $5000 which allows
$3000 foi^pe assistant and $800 for the other. The second assistant was lowered from $1200 to $800.
In the lengthy discussion which , ensued, Supervisor Foster inquired i what effect the lowering of one of r~ • the assistants would have on the operation of the office since apparently the health of the Clerk and first assistant caused absenteeism at times. Mr. Wood answered that if Mr. Settle could not get the ^ work done with what he had he? * | could pay someone out of his own 'pocket.
