HAPPY NKW YEAR
The late Mrs. Pauline Warden Slaughter of* “The Oaks” had a way of saving "Happy New Year” all her own. One year she sent to a friend with New Year greetings, a copy in her own handwriting, of the poem printed below.
A litttle girl from the “ big house” visits her much loved "I)addy-I)o-Funny” to inquire after his health.
The Rappahannock Nrus would like in l%0 to extend to all it’s friends, best wishes, in the “Cousin Pauline" manner. “O, Daddy-Do-Funny, bow is you

dis mahnin;” Mah ol’ laig is stiff, an’ mah arm
ah kaint lif; And I sure got a misery in mah
