Chief Warden Attends
Meeting In Charlottesville
Raymond M. Johnson, Chief Forest Warden for Rappahannock. County, attended the annual District Chief Forest Warden’s meeting which was held in Charlottesville on January 21st. A1J Virginia Division of Forestry personnel stationed in the sixteen-couny Northern Piedmont District were in attendance.
The purpose of the meeting was A to discuss and plan :#or a co-ordinated forestry program throughout the sixteen counties for the coming year. Problems involving ' fire prevention and suppression, forest management, reforestation, and forest insect and disease control were discussed.
A fact ■ of vital interest to all personnel is the future use of weaher predictions which indicate critcal forest fire danger perods. A traning session was held which covered this subject, with the principal objectives being to train all personnel in recognizing these conditions aryl taking measures in advance to meet an emergency, situation. . 5
