The Trustees and the many “Friends <j>f the Library” who are working to restore the building and establish the library, felt this was a red-letter week for them, for in addition to this generous grant to start the restoration 'fiund, they had a visit from Mr, Washington Reed, noted architect, who has restored many famous buildings in Colonial Williamsburg. Mr. Reed confirmed local opinion that the building wasi a fine example of architecture in the Jefferson manner and suggested that no structural changes whatever be made to the interior; that the necessary utilities be placed in an extension

so that alj original lines could be preserved.

Several offers of book collections have been received. The Trustees request those people who have so kindly made these offers to hold since no storage facilities are available as yet and plans are not far enough along to process them.
