Sperryville Firemen report record attendance at the annual carnival held last weekend. Gross receipts were about $7,000.
The parade Friday evening consisted of approximately seventy units and were judged as follows:
[Jest appearing pumper from a town over 500 population, Warrenton; same for town under 500 population, Marshall; Fire company coming longest d i s t a n c e, Franconia; Best appearing Ladies Auxiliary, The Plains; Best majorettes, Warrenton Rebellettes; Best appearing float, Lee Highway Hotel; Best drum and bugle corp, Luray; Best band, Strasburg Community Band; Best appearing fire department marching unit, Luray; Best rodeo, Circle Seven Rodeo Arena, Luray; Best appearing antique car, Mr. Tutwiler of Culpeper ; Best appeal ing visiting honorary Fire Chief, Miss Honorary Fire Chief of Nokesville.
Business at the food stand was greater than ever, which is understood, since the ladies of Sperryville have an excellent reputation, especially for their plate suppers that they always feature on parade night. -The firemen and ladies of Sperryville appreciate the attendance, efforts and donations of everyone and express their thanks to all.
