Referendum
Preliminary results of the wheat leferendum conducted in the 39State commercial wheat producing area on July show that 87.3 per cent of the 170,397 fanners voting, favored marketing quotas for the 1061 crop, the State Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Committee reports. The vote was 148,766 for and 21,631 against. Last year only 80.8 per cent of the farmers voting in the national referendum favored marketing quotas for the 1960 crop.
In Virgi-n the final results show that 88.2 per cent of the 1,089. farmers voting favored quotas. according to H. S. Barksdale, chairman of the Rappahannock County ASC Committee. The State vote was 960 for and 129 .again-t. He noted that 29.2 per cent of the 3.727 Virginia farmers eligible to participate voted in the referendum.
