Dear Folk*
Bflieve me the Ladies Auxiliary and Fire Company of Flint Hill are really on the ball. After a record breaking crowd for the 4-day carnival, they have already set the dates for next year’s carnival— August 2, 3, 4, and 5. We certainly missed getting there. Arthur and 1 had fully intended going Saturday evening, but it was a little too rough for me. I’ll be there next year, “Lord willing.”
This morning when Mr. Butler - came up for breakfast, he brought me a 1 Vz lb. tomato—it is beautiful. We have the most wonderful garden a little too good. As fast as I can empty the back porch (freezing and canning), Mr. Butler fills it up again.
After all the weekend rain, everyone is cutting the grass. Tom Massie just started to work on theirs and Charlie Bruce has been working on his.
Guess the Keatings will come home from Georgia this week. I certainly have missed them. Hate to think about the family moving to Washington, D. C.
Today at lunch Arthur and I had a real nice card from Edward Clopton. Haven’t seen much of Edward this summer. We will certainly call the next time we are in Baltimore. Why don’t you and Alex come up and visit your good friends in Rappahannock?
