Look for eggs to resume ther seasonal rise during the next two or three weeks, perhaps moving up as much as three or four cents.
Last week’s price drop apparently was an adjustment after a rapid five-six cent rise since early July.
Big variable in egg prices is disof replacement pullets is well below last year and will be until about November, but with ffeplacerying a little profit, producers are hanging onto older layers.
They did start to move in July. During the first three weeks, slaughter of hens was up 22 per cent from last year.
The big part of these birds will be gone by November, and even though replacements will be at about last year’s level, they won’t be enough to compensate. This should keep egg prices good th rough the first quarter of 1961.
