The bre;<k-ins which began in August, included Atkins Store in Sperryville where $1()0 in cash was taken; VVoodville Post Office where an adding machine and clock were stolen; Rappahannock County High School was entered twice; first time $71 in cash was taken and the second time typewriters and record players valued at over $1,000 were missing; Russell Brothers Garage at Flint Hill was also entered twice and $20 in cash and merchandise taken the first trip. The second time the safe was opened and about $170 in cash taken. The Elementary School at Sperryt ille was entered, but nothing was removed as far as could be ascertained.
According to Commonwealth's Attorney, George H. Davis, Jr., the foursome may also be connected with recent break-ins in Warren County.
The group has admitted the thefts but all were not involved in each robbery. Woodward was already in jail in Luray when the last one occurred, says Mr. Davis, and only Clarke and the girl entered the countv high school the second time.
The first break in the case came when Woodwaid reported his car, a 1953 Mercury, had been stolen.' The license plates from the car were found on a Pontiac driven by Clarke, when he was stopped by authorities in the vicinity of Washington, D. C. Clarke stated that the automobile had been given him for use in the robberies.
