Rena Won!!!.. ...that was the exciting news traveling around Rappahannock County High School last Wednesday. And indeed there was good reason to be excited. Rena Mae Pullen, 19 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Pullen of Washington, Va., had won the Cherry Pie Contest held at Clarke County High School in Berryville the night before. By baking the best cherry pie in this competition, she will represent the state of Virginia at the National Contest in Chicago on February 22, 1961. Rena Mae and Mrs. Glenna Bennett, her homcmaking Teacher, -will spend three days in Chicago at the Shearton Towers Hotel, guests of the National Red Cherry Institute. Rena, who is a senior at Rappahannock County High School, will be competing with a representative from each of the 50 states. The contestant who wins in Chicago will go on to Washington, D. C. and New York Cftv for an educational sight-seeing trip after being declared National Champion.
