Representatives of the eleven pools selling through the association and seven buyers representing the largest manufacturers of wool in the United States met at Staun*on where the pools stated the terms and conditions for the sale and the buyers made close bids on each pool. The bids were turned over to a tallying committee for the purpose of selecting the highest bid of each pool which in turn was given to the individual pool every instance the bid was accepted. The Top Company of Boston, Mass, purchased the majority of the wool with 122,500 pounds going to the Whitaker Company.
Representatives of both VPI and the Division of Markets hailed it as a highly successful sale. This method of selling represents a new ftep in cooperative selling by the farmers to obtain higher prices for their farm commodities.
