Holding will help lambs make a nigher grade too. Price spread normally is about a dollar from prime to choice grade and two or three dollars from choice to good grade. Below good grade, prices take a big drop.
In other years when fed lambs and western spring lambs got bunched in the marker place, prices took a jump of two to three dollars between mid-May and the end of May-first of June peak.
It could be this much this year, but probably won’t be quite. Heavy supplies of all red meats and poultry are having dampening effects on prices of cattle, hogs and sheep, not to mention broiler prices.
