Devices Checked i
AH weighing and measuring devices arc checked periodically for accuracy. Following is the report of the check! made in Rappahannock County by Mr. B. P. Bowers one of the state inspectors:
Of 33 computing scales tested 31 were correct; 2 incorrect. 10 counter scales were tested with 9 correct and 1 incorrect. 6 hanging scales tested with 5 correct and 1 incorrect? 19; platform scales tested; all 19 correct. *J Weights tested were 73 and all were correct. 31 kerosene pumps were tested With 29 correct and 2 incorrect. [73 gasoline? pumps were tested wjith 63 correct and 10 incorrect. 1$ grease measures tested proved 14 correct and 1 incorrect.
Mr. Bowels’ test indicated that 94, per cent ojF all scales in Rappahannock County were accurate and approved on i the first tset. This compares favorably with the State average. I The gasoline pumps and grease measurers in use at service stations were also testjed—.86 per cent were accurate and; approved. Of those rejected 8 per cent were measuring inaccurately; others rejected failed to conform t6 spcifications.
Those devices which were rejected will bje retested as soon as sufficient tinje has elapsed to permit the necessary repairs or replacement. Correct devices are marked with; a yellow and black approval stic|cer.
